Erectile Dysfunction and Low Testosterone

Erection problems are common and often have more than one cause. Low testosterone can be part of the picture.

Why it happens

How testosterone affects erections

Erections depend on healthy blood flow, nerves and hormones. Low testosterone mainly lowers desire, which can make erections harder to get and keep. Blood vessel problems from diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol are the most common physical causes, and ED can be an early sign of heart disease.

Treating the whole picture

If testing shows low testosterone, treatment may improve desire and, for some men, erectile function. When blood flow is the main cause, other treatments work better, and we will tell you so.

When testing confirms low testosterone, testosterone replacement therapy may help. Options include EvexiPEL testosterone pellets and other forms of therapy, with regular labs to keep treatment safe. Testosterone is best measured in the morning and confirmed with a second test.

We treat erectile changes for patients from Kingwood, The Woodlands, Porter, Humble and across the Lake Houston area at our New Caney office. Your first visit starts with lab work and a real conversation about your symptoms.
