Low Libido in Men
A drop in sex drive is one of the most common signs of low testosterone, but it is not the only cause. Here is how we sort it out.
Why it happens
What lowers desire
Testosterone is a key driver of libido in men. When levels fall below normal, interest in sex often drops along with energy and motivation. Stress, depression, poor sleep, alcohol, relationship issues and some medications, including certain antidepressants and blood pressure drugs, can lower desire too.
Common signs
- Less interest in sex
- Fewer spontaneous erections
- Low energy and motivation
- Low mood
- Less satisfaction with sex

Treatment options
Testing and treatment
We check morning testosterone and related labs, such as LH, prolactin and thyroid, to find the cause. If testosterone is low, therapy may restore desire for many men.
When testing confirms low testosterone, testosterone replacement therapy may help. Options include EvexiPEL testosterone pellets and other forms of therapy, with regular labs to keep treatment safe. Testosterone is best measured in the morning and confirmed with a second test.
We treat low libido in men for patients from Kingwood, The Woodlands, Porter, Humble and across the Lake Houston area at our New Caney office. Your first visit starts with lab work and a real conversation about your symptoms.
