Low T
What happens when testosterone drops
Testosterone levels gradually decline with age, and some men fall below the normal range. Low testosterone, also called hypogonadism, can affect energy, drive, mood, muscle, body fat, sleep and sexual function. This gradual change is sometimes called andropause or male menopause.
Other things can lower testosterone too, including obesity, poorly controlled diabetes, sleep apnea, certain medications and pituitary problems. A good evaluation looks for those causes before starting treatment.

Diagnosis and treatment
How TRT works at elev8HRT
Step 01
Accurate testing
Testosterone is best measured in the morning, and low results are confirmed with a second test along with related labs.
Step 02
A plan that fits
If you are a candidate, options include testosterone pellets through EvexiPEL as well as other forms of therapy.
Step 03
Careful monitoring
We recheck testosterone, red blood cell levels and other labs on a schedule to keep treatment safe.
Before starting TRT. Testosterone therapy can lower sperm production and fertility, so men who want to father children should discuss this first. It can also raise red blood cell counts and may worsen untreated sleep apnea. Pellets are compounded medications and are not FDA approved. Dr. Bernell reviews these risks with you and monitors your labs throughout treatment.
Pellet option
Testosterone pellets with EvexiPEL
Testosterone pellets are placed under the skin in a quick office visit and release hormone steadily for several months. Many men prefer them to weekly injections or daily gels. Your dose is based on your labs, your body and how you respond.

Questions
Common questions
What is a normal testosterone level?
Labs vary, but many guidelines use a total testosterone below about 300 ng/dL as a sign of low testosterone when symptoms are also present. We look at your symptoms and repeated lab results together, not one number.
Is TRT safe?
For men with confirmed low testosterone, TRT can be safe with proper monitoring. It is not recommended for men trying to conceive, and some conditions need extra caution. We review your history before starting.
How soon will I feel better on testosterone therapy?
Many men notice changes in energy, mood and libido within a few weeks. Changes in muscle and body composition usually take a few months.
